SEGURA'S PRIORITIES:

My Priorities:

1. Transportation 

• Freeze the MTA Fare until 2031

• Fast & Free buses

• Improve accessibility at current train stations

• Build the IBX (Interboro Express)

• Publicly-owned E-bike locker pilot

• Build new Bike Lanes on all existing bridges in NYC

• Expand Fair Fares eligibility

2. Health

• NY Health Act (Single payer healthcare)*

• Insurance coverage mandate for preventative cancer testing MRIs

• Build mental health infrastructure (more in-patient psychiatric beds)

• Restore Healthcare funding cut by Donald Trump

• Create a pipeline for the homeless to reintegrate into society with a new jobs program pilot.

3. Education

• Free CUNY/SUNY for All NY residents

• Universal Childcare at no cost to parents

• Mandate funding allocation for arts programs in K-12 Public Schools

• Restore Civics & government education in Public Schools
  

4. Immigration

• Get ICE out of our Courts, Schools, & from working with local law enforcement.

• Ensure that our immigrant neighbors are aware of their rights when interacting with ICE
  

5. Prison Reform

• Pass Elder Parole

• Test a Nordic Model Prison Pilot* (using the PA pilot as a model)

• Focus on restoring educational programs in corrections
  

6. Housing

• Hold bad landlords accountable

• Invest in our HDFCs & ensure extension of tax exemption beyond 2029.

• Protect the NYCHA public housing stock from privatization

• Create a social housing model for tenants in privatized NYCHAs
  

7. Energy/Environment

• Limit annual rate increases on Con Ed bills.

• Build Publicly owned renewable energy generation to clean our electric grid

• Pass NY HEAT act to reduce electric bills

• Cosponsor A02054 (Beauty justice act) to reduce harmful chemicals in our beauty products.

• Create new subsidies to ensure that buildings can meet new environmental requirements without increasing rent/maintainance substantially.

• Create new electric car charging infrastructure throughout NY State.

8. Interfaith/Language Accessibility/Disability

• Ensure all NY State government documents have availability in over 30 languages.

• Create anti-hate training mandate for all convicted of hate crimes.

9. Arts & Culture

• Allocate more funding to local artists & artist collectives in Upper Manhattan

• Mandate funding for arts programs in public school budgets

• Revive the Fort Tryon Park Renaissance fair

10. Protecting our rights

• Protect & enforce the right to access reproductive care in NY

• Protect the rights of Trans New Yorkers & protect them from

• Ensure NY is a state that keeps all people safe regardless of race, religion, gender identity, or immigration status.

11. Local infrastructure

• Modernize sewer systems to handle new residential development & rainfall

• Fund composting

12. Election reforms

• Protect against Trump's SAVE act

• Allow independent voters to vote in a primary election of their choosing

• Lower barrier to entry for independant party candidates
